Taiwanese violinist Li-Mei Liang is a frequent performer in renowned concert halls worldwide, such as Boston Symphony Hall, Kimmel Center in Philadelphia, Shanghai Oriental Art Center, Tokyo Opera City Concert Hall, and Taiwan National Concert Hall. Liang’s performances have received rave reviews from audiences and critics. Her recent performance has been described as a “powerhouse,” “first rate and thoroughly engaging” by the Boston Musical Intelligencer.

Liang maintains an active performance schedule as a soloist, chamber musician, and orchestral player. Recent highlights include a nineteen-city tour in China with the Petrucci Quartet and concerts with the East Coast Chamber Orchestra (ECCO). Liang has been the associate concertmaster of the Orchestra of Indian Hill in Littleton, MA, since 2013. She is also a core member of New York Classical Players.

A passionate and committed educator, Liang finds balance between performative and academic teaching. She currently teaches private violin lessons at Arlington Public Schools in Massachusetts while being a full-time music theory faculty at the New England Conservatory and its Preparatory School. Prior to this, she served as a lecturer in violin and chamber music at University of California, Irvine, as well as a chamber music instructor for the Quad Chamber Music Prorgram at Harvard University.

Liang grew up in Taipei, where she graduated from the Affiliated High School of National Taiwan Normal University. Liang completed her undergraduate and graduate studies at the New England Conservatory. She recently received her Doctorate of Musical Arts in violin performance and a minor in music theory, with an analytical thesis on Béla Bartók’s Sonata for Solo Violin. Her mentors include Donald Weilerstein, Nicholas Kitchen, Stratis Minakakis and Cheng-Tu Su.
