MADELINE FAYETTE cello

Praised by the Sarasota Herald-Tribune for her “charisma... lovely tone and phrasing”, cellist Madeline Fayette is building a career as a versatile musician, both at home as a soloist and collaborator.  Ms. Fayette made her Lincoln Center debut at the age of fourteen with the Juilliard Pre-College Symphony.  This upcoming season, Madeline is joining the cello section of both the Hudson Valley Philharmonic and Symphony in C.   In addition, she is a new core member of New York Classical Players, a chamber orchestra comprised of accomplished young professionals dedicated to presenting high-level concerts free of charge to varied New York audiences.  Madeline will also perform in Ensemble Échappé’s inaugural concert this fall.

Highlights of past seasons include a performance of Brahms Double Concerto with her sister Elizabeth Fayette and Long Island’s Sound Symphony, chamber music performances on "Wednesday's at one" at Alice Tully Hall, multiple appearances on Long Island’s Piano Plus Concert Series, and featured performances on WQXR’s Young Artist Showcase. During her time at the Juilliard School, Madeline was co-principal cellist of the Juilliard Orchestra from 2011-2015.  Of the Juilliard Orchestra’s October 2013 Carnegie Hall concert with Maestro Alan Gilbert, the New York Times acknowledged her leadership of the “excellent cello section”.  In her role as principal cellist, Ms. Fayette has also worked with conductors Edward Gardner, Larry Rachleff, Robert Spano, and David Zinman. She has also served as principal cellist of the Sarasota Festival Orchestra.

Ms. Fayette has appeared at the Yellow Barn, Sarasota, and Kneisel Hall Music Festivals. As a chamber musician, she has collaborated and performed with violinists Lucy Chapman, Curtis Macomber, Nicholas Mann, Violaine Melançon, and Donald Weilerstein, violists Maria Lambros and Roger Tapping, and clarinetist Alan Kay.  In 2012, Ms. Fayette was selected as a participant in the Robert Mann String Quartet Institute, where she worked with Mann and members of the American Quartet. Additional chamber music performances have included appearances at the Metropolitan Museum of Art and the Rhinebeck Chamber Music Society.  In 2015, Madeline was invited to participate in a special ‘Celebration of Women’ performance as part of the Rhinebeck Chamber Music Society’s season, collaborating with Victoria Bond, Babette Hierholzer, and Eugenia Zuckerman. She has participated in the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center’s master class series with pianist Leon Fleisher and the Orion Quartet.

For the past two years, Ms. Fayette has been part of the Gluck Community Fellowship program, bringing free performances to various healthcare facilities in the New York metropolitan area.  In April 2015, Ms. Fayette was an Artist-in-Residence at Music Feeds Us, a non-profit organization based in Charlottesville, Virginia, which seeks to bring awareness to the need for greater hunger relief in the Greater Blue Ridge area through chamber music performances.  She will return to Virginia for the 2016 residency.  

Ms. Fayette holds a Bachelor and Master of Music from the Juilliard School where she studied under the guidance of Natasha Brofsky and Bonnie Hampton.
